Signage reads: The archiepiscopal bailiff's seat received its name -Hartingsbau - honouring its owner in the 19th century. Beforehand it had been the administrative centre of the chapter of Mainz - designed in the late Gothic style. [Taxes ] used to be collected there - particularly for wine. The main building with the stepped gable dates to 1488-89.
Today the building is used by the local music school.
